Check me out. I am writing this before I see season 6 of The Chosen. Thomas has lost his loved one who was not raised from her violet death and Thomas is in pain. Jesus has been crucified, but I suspect we do not get the resurrection until season 7, but this is just a guess at this time. I suspect that when the message of Jesus’ resurrection is given to him, all the doubts, anger, helplessness of Thomas’ life will be reflected in some way by the writers and director. That isn’t necessary for the story in scripture, but it is necessary for all of us who are also facing all the doubts, anger and helplessness of our journeys when we face death and any promises of life beyond. The disciples were shown the marks of His body in their doubting, but they are not called the doubters in our histories. Thomas is just the same as they were, but he did not believe the witness and there is the hurt. When we are faced with the realities of “this cruel world”, let the testimony of life in Christ Jesus ring out for our hope.
