Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ

The Setting

Acts 20:7 On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight.

I hope you know the story: look it up. Was this a Sunday service? Some use this as an example of the early church using Sunday instead of Saturday for worship. Since the day starts at sunset, this may have been an extension of a Saturday worship until after sundown. I would not make a big deal of it. But the setting is a late one. The next event is Eutychus falling asleep, out of the window and lying dead with Paul raising him up. This is the only resurrection I can think of after Easter in the scriptures until we get to Revelation where all kinds of life and death is recorded. But it leaves the issue open for us in our recordings of life after death events. Our need for resurrection stories is sufficient in Jesus, but the glimpses we may hear of can give us ample reason to check our map of hope in the One Who Was Raised For Us All.
