Believe It and Claim It!

Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

At least that is the way it has been preached by many a teacher, pastor, leader and ministry group in traditions that I have not been part of. The other half of the teaching that day went like this: 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins." This was the event when Jesus passed a fig tree that had no figs and then cursed it and it was dead a day later. Ouch. First the responsibility of knowing when to curse or bless and second that business of “believing” are big. At first glance I could be asking for items that seem important to me: “my car needs fixing” or “my High School team needs a win” or some such may not be of the significance of some needs. Even such a thing as “deliver me from cancer” seems a bit selfish though huge in my vision. The key may be “in prayer” which has to do with opening my heart to Our Father. I would consider such a prayer to Yahweh as not being light or flippant. It may even require the guidance of His Holy Spirit to be meant in faith. It may be that this is an essential teaching for us in the spirit of “I really trust you and serve you FATHER”. If I can forgive those who sin against me or them, maybe I can truly envision this prayer in a time of need. How about you?
