2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ.
Check me on this: three ways of referring to God’s light. The first seems to refer to the light in the creation where I have noted elsewhere that there may be two creations of light (Gen. 1:3 and 1:15-19). Then there is the light of revelation and conviction that leads us to a deeper light which is behind the fleshly face of Jesus unto the glory in His person that is the glory of God Himself in the Son. For my own help: the second light is the work of the Holy Spirit who spoke to the disciples themselves and us to open us to even look beyond the story of Jesus to His deep reality in Himself (Father, SON and Spirit). The third light then is the very presence of God in Jesus (a big step of revelation if you are not still chewing on that bit) to reveal the nature, character and purposes of the Father. Jesus saw His work as revealing the Kingdom of God (yes, God the Father whose glory is the revelation we all need.) Are we really living in that LIGHT?
