James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Resist whom? Do we really believe that the devil has any influence on us? On my life? (I will get to the submission part in a bit.) When we desire something, even the favorite ice cream, is it only a treat or a treasure? The mansion rather than the RV? The championship rather than the team experience? These sound like silly options, but every day there are choices we make and value judgments we chose that are more about me and mine than His and Ours! Oh, we mask them in many ways for ourselves, but our enemy the devil uses the pain of a world he has great influence on to offer choices we do not even feel as value judgments. To submit to God then is to take a deeper look at what we are about in our directions. Are they really His and from Him or has the world and the ancient enemy still got a grip on our daily walk? Resist that old stinker and give it all to the Triune Master!
