Numbers 6:23-27 23 "Tell Aaron and his sons, 'This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: 24 "'"The LORD bless you and keep you; 25 the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace."' 27 "So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them."
This is the great benediction that usually leaves off the last portion. What does it mean to have the name of The Lord on you? On a people? The name of the Lord is His characteristic: power, purpose, capability and such. This means that when we offer this prayer on each other, we are both blessing and calling them beyond themselves and unto the world for the purposes of the LORD! What if we were to purposely offer this prayer to our family, our friends and, yes, even ourselves? It moves well beyond a nice day into a life of Holy purpose, Divine character and Awesome potentials. Do I, you, others, want that kind of call? Lord, offer me your name today.
