Jer. 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Jer. 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.
Look at that list! And He did most of it by dying! As we dwell in sin, limited spiritual vision, greed in riches, fear in living, and a multitude of learned and unlearned patterns of sin, He moves into our world. And rising! Putting us in direct touch with Him, His Father by the Holy Spirit and even with each other in ways not found in the natural world we have given each other. We can spend the rest of our lives arguing over the trinity if that gives us a thrill, but let it be known that GOD has moved to provide a “ planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor“. It is not to accomplish human restoration as the expectation was when Jesus showed, but to accomplish eternal restoration in those who have limited human sight. I see ashes, He sees beauty. I see captivity, He sees freedom in the prison. I see despair in the office of the Cancer physician, but He sees a garment of praise. He came and still comes to proclaim good news to all who will listen. Help me to listen to your proclamation Lord.
