Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ

Called Blameless

1 Thessalonians 5: 23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

Not me, you? Someone else? Truly there was only one who was without sin who could be called blameless. You may be pretty good, those who are on my mailing list are of better general character than some in New York, but …. Well no reason to get personal. We all fall short of blameless. But He is at work sanctifying us. May I get really personal on this? I believe that the Holy Spirit calls us with the work of Jesus offered as the truth of hope. But that work goes on and on. In the meantime, we all have moments that need grace, mercy and forgiveness from the cross. It is a process, not a done deal at any point. Yes we are paid for, cleansed by the blood of the cross, but the personal work is ongoing. He is at work daily in us, gracing us with love and interventions of the fellowship of faith. Paul’s prayer here is for all of us, all the time.
