There is a transition in this passage that is essential: Working out salvation while God is at work! Every act of my life and yours is a moment of transition between what the Lord is doing and what I am able to surrender to Him in that moment. It should be simple, but it is always a stretch to put the one with the other. The Lord may want me to forgive a major error in the church, but it is also clear that those who committed that error should at least be limited in their behaviors. Is that a project of the Lord or me? Am I able to love even while dealing with their faults (at least as I see it- remember the Lord sees the full truth of every situation)? The ability to seek the Lord in all situations is key for all of us. I may see you as a needed servant in a special place, but the Lord may call another heart to hear Him clearly. Seek the Lord therefore in all situations and praise His purposes even when we are certain we know what should be done. The trick of such life is quiet heart tuned to the voice of love and peace in the Spirit of God as we are able to hear Him.
