Keep Commandments

John 15:9 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love.

It certainly looks as if keeping the commandments opens the door for remaining or abiding in the love of Jesus. But the opening line is “AS.. I HAVE LOVED YOU” which opens the issue as to which comes first: love or obedience. This is because it is true that disobedience takes us at least in the wrong direction of love. Love does mean both caring for the directions of the other person as well as caring for their well-being and feelings. If we truly love, obedience would seem natural and expected. Which would bother you more? Disobeying God or not loving Him? Can you figure out which is most significant?
