Romans 13: 11 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
I really do not understand what nearer means when it is close to 2000 years ago, but I suspect for all of us the clarity of our living will be clearer in the future than it is now. The time to put aside the deeds of darkness is always better now than later and the need for the armor of light (see Ephesians 6) is always an essential part of today. The present time is a time when darkness is around us, but the light of His love and presence is real and available. Are you and I seeking light today or being comfortable not asking the obvious questions of trust and faith? God is claiming the right to be worshipped and the offer of life in a world of brokenness. Now. The day is here, but the night is confused and offering lies. Wake up, He says, I am here. Do we dance in the day or do you wish to remain seated in your sorrows in the night?
