The Rock

Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Not by his strength, not by his wisdom, not by fear and shame, but by trusting in the one and only Father God did David stand. He seemed to have known this even when facing Goliath, but throughout his life, he had to run from Saul, lose a wife, gain a portion of the kingdom, receive the rest of the kingdom, deal with a broken son, a disgraced daughter, his own failure and other examples of human limitations and still declare “my God is my Rock!” What does it take for us to declare the same? How many successes or failures do we need to declare “The Rock”? I can only do so by His own testimony and my own weakness. Would it possibly work out for us to hear the testimony of others and the promises of our Lord so that we might get to miss all the challenges to “The Rock” that will be raised?
