Jeremiah 33:14 "'The days are coming,' declares the LORD, 'when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah. 15 "'In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David's line; he will do what is just and right in the land. 16 In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The LORD Our Righteous Savior.'
I get the saved part with Jesus, but safety? Was it safe when the city, the temple and the people were destroyed and run out by the Romans in only 40 years or so? Even before that, Stephen was killed by stoning and James the brother of John was run through by a sword. Is that safe? And some guy named Saul was jailing and maybe killing followers of Jesus! Safe? What if that safety had little to do with our mortal bodies, but with our life in the Lord Father of us all? What if in the “righteous Branch” there is a security that this flesh is not even part of? Would we believe it? Would we risk this life for the sake of that promise? The disciples did. Paul did. All of the disciples seemed to (all of them suffered, most died under persecution). But they were safe! Can you believe that? Could I live like it? I have not been tested, I do not look forward to such testing, but I am safe. You are safe in Him.
