Proverb 14:23 In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.
I cannot take this as an economic virtue. Oh, it works just fine in worldly terms and with such comes the emptiness of the poverty of life. Yes, I may be influenced by my lack of millions, but let me suggest that the toil of keeping the hand of the Lord directing us from day to day and effort to effort is not about money, profit or comfort, but about the riches of a life filled with good, trust, service and the hand of God with us unto hope and joy. The profits of our lives need to be counted as the previous verses suggest: “14:22 Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.” Yes there is profit and talk will not build the Kingdom, but the toil of love and trust which do not come easily will in His Hands produce the profit of love.
