Ephesians 4:1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
There could be a list of some of the 613 laws that have been both observed and made little of from the Jewish traditions. But no, that is not what Paul was calling us to. Our lives have been purchased by Jesus on the cross. That cross was declared a victory by the resurrection days later. That resurrection was authenticated by the living presence of the Holy Spirit in peoples lives since then. The calling was that of the child brought home as darkness settles. The calling was that of the flocks into the walled fence of John 10. The calling remains that of the Son of God who says “follow me”. I am not worthy in myself of that calling, but the calling for me has been given and I hear Him say to me: “follow me, serve me, trust me and worship (give myself to) me. May I trust Him to make me worthy even today.
