Hosea 3:4 For the Israelites will live many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred stones, without ephod or household gods. 5 Afterward the Israelites will return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They will come trembling to the LORD and to his blessings in the last days.
Even though we know that we need the Lord in our lives, many experience the unfortunate path of Israel in the days of Hosea: we latch onto other sources of influence, power, lies and easy pleasure before we realize that we need the reality of THE ONE TRUE GOD. Can we believe that Yahweh, Jesus, has a desire for intimacy with us even as we seek it from all the false powers and such around us? For today, I think it is enough to ask “what attracts me today that might not give me so much as I hope”? And “Does the Lord Jesus bring blessing even after it seems to hurt more?” We usually need to live without before we find peace with. With the one from David’s line!
