Isaiah 52:1 Awake, awake, Zion, clothe yourself with strength! Put on your garments of splendor, Jerusalem, the holy city. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again. 2 Shake off your dust; rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains on your neck, Daughter Zion, now a captive. 3 For this is what the LORD says: "You were sold for nothing, and without money you will be redeemed."
I can only suggest, but it seems correct, that what was true for Zion, even Jerusalem, might be true for the church of Jesus Christ. Will we treasure the fellowship of those who are seeking, following and trusting the Lord as much as the call to Jerusalem was those thousands of years ago? Do we spend time holding back fellowship and joy from those in our congregations? How about with those next door or down the street from us with different architectural natures or theological or liturgical differences? Redemption is the gift we share, can we celebrate that even as we struggle with the world and its attacks on our morals, faith and promises. What was the call for Jerusalem in its time of suffering and captivity should even more be our challenge.
