Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
This admonition (statement of reality for those who are worried about those who have died) offers comfort about the hope of others. Our parents and others of the family and even the family of believers are covered with this hope: Once we are dead, we are not lost to the Lord. Not stated is whether we are already with the Lord, at least not here. What is stated here is that those who have died will not be left behind when the final trumpet is sounding. Are they rising from the grave or from some other state? This gets into all kinds of messy contemplation that we really do not need. What we need is to know that those who have believed, lived in Jesus are not lost, but waiting for the great day of the Lord. Could they be with Him in paradise already? Not covered at this point. What we need to know is that when we die, we are also covered by this promise: as we have lived in the Lord, so shall we be with Him at the end.
