Psalm 110:4 The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek."
I wish I could rejoice in this passage, in Genesis 14 and Hebrews 5-7, but they still confuse me. It would seem easy to just say “the word is infallible” just go OK. But there is some side comments that bother me. Psalm 110 also focuses on troops, battles and such as David faced. We could spiritualize these aspects, but I am not comfortable with that. The references in Hebrews are quite clear as to the certain eternal nature of Jesus’ priesthood, but linked to either David or Abraham’s offering can be opening other areas that do not jump out for Jesus. What does stand out is that He is before us as the High Priest who opens the door for us before our Father. For that I give praise and joy. For the rest, I remain seeking. I am always open to further encouragements regarding old Melch---y! For me, Jesus you are forever and to you I cling for hope, mercy and eternity.
