1 Corinthians 5:7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
For me, yeast is a good, even great addition to my foods. The bread is air filled, softer even tastier because of its presence. But this is not that kind of yeast. This yeast is the presence of acceptable sins. This is the couple who say they gave all their wealth to the fellowship in Acts 5 and kept half hidden away. This is the faith proclaimer who keeps his pornography in the hidden sections of his laptop. This is the pastor who has learned to speak to thousands and cannot speak truth to his wife. I have no clear picture how to do this and neither did the Corinthians who later in the second letter were told to slow down their attacks on maybe the same person who had been kicked away from the fellowship. (11 Corinthians 2:1ff). Let us seek not to be a hinderance to the Love of God in the present seduction of the faithful. Not an easy call, but needed.
