Ezekiel 34:6 My sheep wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. They were scattered over the whole earth, and no one searched or looked for them. 7 "'Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the LORD: 8 As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, because my flock lacks a shepherd and so has been plundered and has become food for all the wild animals, and because my shepherds did not search for my flock but cared for themselves rather than for my flock, ….10 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against the shepherds and will hold them accountable for my flock. I will remove them from tending the flock so that the shepherds can no longer feed themselves. I will rescue my flock from their mouths, and it will no longer be food for them.
There are many faithful men and women of God leading congregations and mission fields and such. But this truth remains, the urge to be safe and the challenge to remain faithful is difficult. It is not about how many are saved or how large the congregation, but about caring for the flock. The hardest part of serving is keeping our eyes and hearts on those we are living with. It is easier to focus on tasks, programs and leadership than to keep updated on the challenges, failures, sicknesses and fears of those we are in fellowship with. If Jesus died for everyone, we are not absolved from similar mutual caring. Can we sell that practice as the heart of fellowship? By the way, salvations will come when His Love is real in the fellowship.
