Not Quite Everything

Mark 10:29 "Truly I tell you," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life.

Merry Christmas! A good subject for the day huh?! He was born to be targeted by the King for death. His family was chased to Egypt shortly after Bethlehem. The promise of the Eternal Kingdom was not really visible even in the life of Jesus. The church (temple, leaders and teachers) turned on Him. So He could bring life to the dead in hope, service and vision of the world. If we are to follow Him, if the Christmas gift is alive in us, we need to know that the world is still around us and pain and sorrow may well visit us -even longer than we may wish-. Yes, salvation. Yes, the Living Spirit of God. Yes, “unto us a Savior”. But also leaving home, family and wealth also.
