Why Answer?

Psalm 69:16 Answer me, O Lord, for your steadfast love is good; according to your abundant mercy, turn to me.

For most or at least many of us, God is not quick to give answers. Oh, they do come, but not quickly! David in this Psalm is begging God to help him in a time of great stress, enemies and other attacks seem right there. When we are in various situations that offer the cry “help me” to God, it seems that often it takes a while for any if any kind of answer. David gives himself a reason to hang on: The Lord is good and has abundant mercy. This reason may not be based solely on experience, but on the awareness of the Father who led the nation out of slavery and the God who sent Judges over many years in the weaknesses of the people before. The History of God and not just statements about God open the door for greater faith than just a story about God or a doctrine. He has proved Himself over the centuries to be about His business in a world where He is often overlooked by the powers of our world, the darkness. Can you and I call out for an answer?
