Isaiah 43:18 "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
A very famous book was “Streams In The Desert” founded upon this scripture. I know a number of people in the fellowships of Christians who are still focusing on the wasteland and the desert of the law and structures of the Exodus people. They often found congregations, schools and wider fellowships and miss the stream of living water that has poured out in the Resurrection and Pentecost of Jesus. He is alive for His people and encountering us for the gift of life, not law and punishment. The will of God in Jesus was that we learn to walk with Him by means of, yes, the Word, but also the Living Spirit of Himself and the Father for our life restored. The law still exists, but new life is not a reaction to the law, but to the gift of Himself alive in us. It is and remains a New Thing.
