Acts 9:11 The Lord told him, "Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. 12 In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight." 13 "Lord," Ananias answered, "I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem.
“But you do not know (REALLY?) the kind of people they are! They drink, even maybe do drugs and they are SO UPTIGHT….” Yes, the break down of Saul was really special, but so are the break downs of many people. The ministries of Kairos and Prison Fellowship and many others have shown that there are lives ready for love and forgiveness and the reality of the Living God in prisons and maybe even in your factory, your store, your neighborhood and your family. Jesus did say to the disciples not to go where you are rejected in their short ministry, but Paul (later in Acts) went to many places where he was beaten, rejected and almost killed. I know people who still try to tell the Jesus story to the people in Russia, Ukraine and even Iran. Is there a foreign land in your neighborhood? Who could go there? Who indeed? I am not sure I have had an “Ananias” call, but are we ever sure we have not heard it for someone. Have we heard “GO”?
