Exodus 25:40 See that you make them according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.
How do I sing? How do I praise God? Where are the guidelines in the New Testament? The books of Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers will give you all kinds of guidance about shapes, skills and places for the things of worship. And these are not just from the ideas of people, but from the hand of God himself directly to Moses. Many of the churches since Jesus rose have tried to remain faithful to the ideas of the Tabernacle and Temple instructions. But the particulars have been set aside. The principle of precision and care are still awarded in many congregations, but in others, there are few guiding principles beyond the cross. (I understand some places even drop that). The question I ask today is this: Do we want to worship God with care, devotion and awe drawn from the roots of His people, or just from the patterns of our day and time. I am not sure that we should ignore the patterns of the past. Certainly, the best is to worship sincerely with whatever form we use.
