Which Do You Want?
Jeremiah 19:1 This is what the LORD says: "Go and buy a clay jar from a potter. Take along some of the elders of the people and of the priests 2 and go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom, near the entrance of the Potsherd Gate. There proclaim the words I tell you, 3 and say, 'Hear the word of the LORD, you kings of Judah and people of Jerusalem. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Listen! I am going to bring a disaster on this place that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle.
This is God’s call to Jeremiah, the prophet of fair warning. The leadership (media, law of the nation, and powers that be) had allowed full departure from trusting the God of Jacob to trusting the God of balanced treaties and stout walls. Disaster is to follow. There are many in our time who see the same warnings for not just the USA, but for the world. It is true that the warnings are for both glory and terrifying judgment on the world. But in the same breaths, the Lord has offered Himself as our Hope. I caution us to be careful that we proclaim the salvation offered by Jesus with every much enthusiasm as we might the inevitable judgment which seems unavoidable at the present. Join me in praying for new hearts, new mercy and ever powerful grace on those around who are seeing disaster coming. Do you really want the disaster?
