Knowing
I John 2:3-6 And by this we know that we have come to know [Christ], if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
I wonder how many people actually know the person they married? We have decided that we knew enough that we would make it, but there have been a number of “surprises” that were not anticipated. Oh, almost always good in our case, but still surprises. We may have heard about God, learned of Jesus, but still not have really known the depth of love, the call of His Family, and the purposes to which we have enlisted until a bit later in the journey. To walk in the “Word” of God is to be in His living presence where it is not the outside evidence that moves us, but the fullness of His purpose of love. His command is to love always. Just walk in Him, with Him.
