The Author
Heb 13:23 I want you to know that our brother Timothy has been released. If he arrives soon, I will come with him to see you. 24 Greet all your leaders and all the Lord's people. Those from Italy send you their greetings. Grace be with you all.
I have a friend who likes to tease me in public about my doubts about the writer of Hebrews as Paul. For him the question of authorship is decided by maybe these closing notes in the letter. They are a good argument for Paul. But He does not identify himself in any way at the beginning of the letter and almost nothing in sentence style or argument is consistent with the ways THE SAME ARGUMENTS are made in his other writings. There is no identification in Hebrews as to the actual writer. The points of the book are much directed at Jewish Christians as opposed to the gentiles to whom Paul wrote, so it could be that he totally changed his style for the sake of the audience. I just like to give total credit to the Holy Spirit for the gift of this book of life. Maybe a good idea for all of the Big Book!
