2 Corinthians 5:5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
Many a pastor has a degree from some school of learning, sometimes called Seminaries (not cemeteries). These are the places where the word of God has been studied, translated, argued and even believed at times. Paul does not mention the school of the Temple or rabbis here. He mentions the Holy Spirit and the encounter with Him as an affirmation of the gospel and it’s promises. This does not mean skipping training, but lifts up the WORK of God in His reality as the affirmation of the significant promise of Jesus. It seems all the training, studies and such of Israel were only good enough for Nicodemus and maybe a few others when Jesus appeared. Have we asked The Father for His Spirit when we open the Word and encounter His WORD?
