The Source

John 15:1-5 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

It is not about me or you. It is always about The Lord who is the source of the presence of God, the power of God and the will of God. Jesus brings to the broken world a living relationship with God that was not possible completely before that even though many did walk with Him. For most of Jesus followers, fruit bearing was not even possible without Him in our lives. You and I may have all kinds of good qualities, even behaviors and some kinds of sacrificial behaviors for other, but without the gifts of the vine, we are only good looking branches which will only offer good looking, non-productive fruits which will look like love, mercy and grace, but will not be the true fruit of His branches. He is the source of His fruit. We are simply the branches on which it manifests itself.
