Losing The Found
Matthew 10:39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.
I have a friend who laughs at the world of professional athletics. And he is right about the distance of those men and women from the reality of our lives. To be a professional (today even the universities have professional athletes) there is a focus on life success. You must produce, regularly, at high levels, to remain what you are. There are some who just can, but most focus, focus, focus to the point where life is mostly the current success level. When the real struggle is to keep the kids from hurting themselves and the bills to be paid, it is hard to see life as just winning. The goals of our lives are called to be outside the measures of the world. To love others, praise God and serve all is to find a life not focused on self, but on the One who is the source of life. Jesus came to offer a Kingdom, not built on the procedures of humanity, but on the living presence of Our Father here. Where are our lives structured today?
