Not About Me
Esther 4:15-16 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: "Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish."
I am not too overwhelmed by the call that it is all about me when it comes to salvation. Yes, He saved me and you and you and you and actually all of humanity was given the blood gift. The other half of the story is that we get wrapped up in the “about me” portion and not the “you, you, you” which is what the disciples faced. You are apostles sent to proclaim that salvation to the world. Esther’s response is that of the real evangelist: “I am not the real issue, others are.” I suspect the Holy Spirit, the real presence of God, was in on that response too. How is my/your call going for those around us?
