How Did He Do It?
Psalm 63:3-6 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.
And some churches do not want anything like emotionalism to show up! My question is where did that kind of interpersonal (inter-divine) encounter fit in the life of David that seems to have missed many even with the Holy Spirit in our day? He had a shepherd’s time to praise God in his pastures, and even as a King there may have been time to sit with God that others did not have, but this should only have shown up in the time after Jesus when the Spirit of God connected deeply with the church (the living people of God). OR have we missed the fact that God has always reached out to those who trust Him? I will always remember Moses arguing with God about taking responsibility for the wayward people of Israel (Exodus 32:9ff) which indicated a pretty personal encounter. I would hope we all could open our hearts to heartfelt praise and song. And even tears of sorrow and joy.
