Matthew 1:1 This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:
The last portion is about Mary and Joseph, but before that we have name after name when the one who really matters is the Father-Holy Spirit. But The Father is the one who kept the generations going so that Jesus was in fact a Hebrew, a Jew. Actually Judean from David. For those who really get twisted about the story, it is a different genealogy from Luke (one from Mary and ?one from Joseph?. The reality is that God sent Jesus as a human being, capable of dying and capable of knowing human strength and weakness to give Himself for all. The human touch is very important because it was not a “you can’t really hurt me” story of God the omnipotent, but of God the sacrifice for you and me. Rejoice, He has come and we are His who has completed His mission for our redemption. The Messiah, the anointed is real and human and a gift of God.
